PB3: Photo-Biyori Version 3.0 Released

I released a new version of Photo-Biyori (version 3.0), a photolog theme for WordPress today.
What’s different from version 2.0:

Use css and Javascript (CurvyCorners) for rounded-corner background. No images used.
Include Album page (thumbnail list for all pictures)

Supported WordPress 2.9+.

PB2: A Bug in WP 2.8.1 and PB Auto Thumbnail Insertion

WordPress 2.8.1 has been released. Unfortunately, the bug that affects one of Photo-Biyori functions hasn’t fixed.
Please read this post if you have a problem to get the thumbnail code into the excerpt field.

The milestone to fix the bug sets to WP 2.8.2. I hope WordPress team can make that happen with the next release.

WordPress 2.8 has been released and I found a problem with Photo-Biyori running on 2.8.

Problem
After uploading/inserting a image and saving draft, the code of thumbnail sometimes won’t be inserted into the excerpt field.

Cause
A bug of WordPress 2.8 reported here (ticket #9471)
It should be fixed in WP 2.8.1.

Solution
Be sure to “save draft” before uploading a file.

Please let me know if you find any other problem with PB on WP 2.8.

PB2: How to Use Widgets in Photo-Biyori 2.0

Since Photo-Biyori doesn’t have a sidebar, there is a bit trick to use widgets in Photo-Biyori. Here is how to use widgets in Photo-Biyori.

When you go to Appearance > Widgets in your WP admin panel, you’ll see “column 1″ to “column 6″ in the dropdown menu in Current Widgets section. These are set in PB page template:

Extra page template isn’t used by default, so please use it when you need an additional 2-column page.

Plan for Updates on Photo-Biyori

It’s been almost a year and half since I first released Photo-Biyori. WordPress went from version 2.2 to 2.7 and they added many nice features. I’ve been working on major updates on Photo-Biyori to take advantages of the latest WordPress.

Here are some of changes I’m trying to make happen:

“Show/Hide Comments” instead of the comment pop-up window. No more edit on a core file
Use WP default file uploader instead of Photopress plugin
Add thumbnail auto-insert feature
Widget-ready

I’m hoping to release a new version sometime in Mid. February.

Photo-Biyori with WordPress 2.5

WordPress 2.5 was released today!
I tested my photolog theme “Photo-Biyori” on WP 2.5. It seems to work fine. However, the layout of Photoress (pb-mods) option page and the pop-up window for uploading files in the admin panel is broken. Here is a quick fix for it.

photopress_pb1.1.zip

Please make sure to deactivate all plugins when you update the WP to 2.5 and to deactive Photopress (pb-mods) plugin when you replace it with the new Photoress (pb-mods) files.

PB: Plugin – Show Latest Thumbnail

If you’d like to show the latest thumbnail of your Photo-Biyori site to another blog, give this plugin a try. It’s still a beta version, so please let me know if you find any bugs.

Plugin doesn’t work if…

your PB site forbids linking to files. (hotlinks)
your PB site address is different from the WP address.

Installation:

Download the plugin. (Last updated: 09/01/2007)
pb-latest-thumb.zip
Upload “pb-latest-thumb” folder into your PB site’s plugins directory.
Activate “PB Show Latest Thumb”. There is no options for this plugin.

How to Show the Thumbnail

Add the code below to the page, where you’d like to show the latest thumbnail.

* Change example.com and your photolog title. It should work on non-WordPress sites but I haven’t tested yet.
